Our guest faculty members are some of the most sought-after and highly acclaimed choreographers, teachers, and investigators of la danza folklorica mexicana. Below you will find a list of this year's guest faculty and their master workshop sessions.
Elda Rosa Ojeda Gonzalez

QUINTANA ROO
Repertorio: Bailes Mestizos (Pascalles, Jaranas, Bailes de los Chicleros, Popurri) y Bailes Caribenos (Pajaro Amarillo, Popurri)
Maestra “Rosy” joins ANGF’s team of instructors with more than 35 years of experience in Mexican folkloric dance. Her folklórico journey began as a young member of the Ballet Folclórico Infantil y juvenil Nicte Há. She continues to be actively involved with this group as well as with the adult professional level group Ballet Folclórico Nicte Há de Chetumal, Quinta Roo as assistant director and artistic coordinator. She also participated as a dancer with the Ballet Folclórico Magisterial de Cancún, in Quintana Roo. At the professional level, she has served as a workshop monitor for the Asociación Nacional de Grupos de Danza Folclórica. In 2018 she choreographed the Caribbean suite for the Ballet Folclórico Itzamná de Chetumal. ANGF looks forward to her sharing the diverse and beautiful dance traditions of Quinta Roo.
Juan Antonio Wong Durante

TAMAULIPAS NORTE
Repertorio: Chotis, Redova, y Polca
A graduate of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas, Mexico, Maestro Wong Durante comes to ANGF with over 40 years of experience and knowledge. He is a graduate of the Danza Folclórica Para Bailarines y Directores de Compañías de Danza Folclórica program from the INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE BELLAS ARTES. He has been a dancer on various national groups, such as the Grupo Folclórico del Instituto Politecnico and the Compañía Nacional del Seguro Social, as well as a dancer with the Compañía Folclórica de la Academia de la Danza Mexicana (D.F.).
He has been an invited panelist, at the state-wide and national level, throughout Mexico. He has been a judge for national (Mexico) Huapango competitions in Tamazunchale, San Luis Potosí; Jacala, Actopan, and Orizabita, Hidalgo; and Pinal de Amoles, San Juan del Rio and San Juaquín, Queretaro (on 3 occasions) has also served as a panelist in the U.S. he has also being a panelist for Tamaulipas-style Polka competitions in Cd. Victoria.
Professionally, he has been a delegate for Tamaulipas for the Asociación Nacional de Grupos De Danza Folclórica Mexicana, A.C. and a promoter for the Tamaulipas-style son Huasteco at national (Mexico) festivals of the Huapango. His workshop will focus on the northern region of Tamaulipas, which is characterized by the polca, redova, and the chotis.
Jorge Alfredo Rodriguez Flores

AGUASCALIENTES
Repertorio: Bailes de Hacienda, Jarabes, Sones de Mariachi y Feria en Aguascalientes
Maestro Rodriguez is an alumnus of the National School of Dance in Mexico City. He is a founder of Aguascalientes’ official dance company, which was founded in 1989. Among his creative contributions to Aguascalientes’ repertoire is "Vista Alegre," Capella de charros, " “Polca agüitas,” danza de chichimecas, and “El Barzón.”
Thanks to his work with the Ministry of Public Education and its Cultural Missions, he founded the independent group “Ollín Yoliztli” in 1994. Under his direction, the group established itself as a pioneering group for its extensive repertoire, authentic costumes and exceptional choreographies. In 2009 he took charge of the Ballet Folclórico Magisterial of Section No. 01 of SNTE. Eventually, he converted this group into an independen group and changed its name to Grupo Folclórico Magisterial Independiente
“Ollin Temachtiani.”
He is a founding member and former president of the Association of Folklorico Choreographers of Mexico (Asociación de Coreógrafos Folkloristas de México A.C). He has shared his expertise and experience with various groups throughout the country, disseminating and teaching the folklore of Aguascalientes.
Hiram Romero Soto

MICHOACAN
Repertorio: Sones y Jarabes de Turicato
Originally from Tuxpan, Michoacán, Mtro Romero completed his undergraduate degree in Danza Folclórica Mexicana from the School of Fine Arts in Toluca, in the state of Mexico in 2013. He has been a teacher at all educational levels in several schools throughout Zinapécuaro, Michoacán.
He also served as director of the official dance of Zinapécuaro. He is also an accomplished dancer, with several 1 st place awards at local and state-wide (Michoacán) competitions. A committed student of danza Mexicana, he has completed numerous workshops and courses in the area of Mexican dance, including courses on“Técnica Raza”, “Danzariega”, “Afroveracruzano” y “Análisis del Movimiento” and “Dramaturgia de la Danza” y “Etnocoreología” (Dramaturgy and Dance Ethnology). Mtro Romero is also one of the few individuals researching the sones and jarabes of Turicato, Michoacán.
He presented his work at the XXXVII Congreso Nacional de Danza Folclórica in the city of Zitácuaro, Michoacán. We look forward to him sharing his research at the conference.
Alfredo Luna Santiago

SAN LUIS POTOSI
Repertorio: Huapangos
We are pleased that Prof. Alfredo Luna Santiago has agreed accept our invitation to form part of our Maestro team once again. He brings a level of skill and professionalism that enhances the overall learning experience of our participants.
Since 2012 Maestro Alfredo serves on the faculty of the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Chimalhuacán,Mexico. Between 2013-2017 he was in charge of the Taller de Danza de la Escuela Normal IMA in Chimalhuacán. He directs the Compañia Titular de Danza Regional and the Grupo de Danza “DanReMex,” both in Chimalhuacán. He is an original director and choreographer for the Grupo de Danza Folklórica “KamanFolk” in Coyutla, Veracruz.
Maestro Alfredo has produced several original works based on his research. We are honored that he has presented some of these works at previous ANGF conferences. He has been invited as a guest choreographer, instructor, and panelist throughout Mexico and the U.S. Maestro Alfredo is also a long-time member of the Instituto de Investigación y Difusón de la Danza Mexicana A.C.
Virginia Garcia Jasso Rodriguez

TABASCO
Repertorio: Sones Tabasquenos
Mtra Virginia G, Jasso Rodriguez comes to ANGF with more than 35 years of experience in Mexican folkloric dance. She began her illustrious career in dance as a young dancer when she joined the Ballet Folklórco Infantil de Emiliano Zapata in Tabasco. She eventually earned a full scholarship to the Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Veracruz to join its highly acclaimed dance program, the Ballet Folklórico de la Universidad Veracruzana under the direction of the esteemed Maestro Miguel VelezArceo.
In addition to her accomplished career as a dancer, she is also an accomplished instructor, choreographer,and panelist/advisor in the area of Zapateo Tabasqueño, having served in numerous panels or as a workshop instructor throughout Mexico. She is an active member of various professional Mexican dance associations, such as the Instituto de la Investigación y Difusión de la Danza Mexicana, A.C.
Luis Oceguera

Maestro Luis Oceguera currently resides and teaches folklórico in Oceanside, California where he founded the highly acclaimed Grupo Folklorico Tapatio de Oceanside in 2004. He is an experienced ANGF maestro with a reputation of professionalism and commitment to excellence. Mtro. Luis is an active member of the Instituto de Investigación y Difusión de la Danza Mexicana A.C. This year Maestro Luis will teach the Desarrollo class.
